Career overview

Since 2020, I have been on staff with AFAR Media, an independently-owned digital and print travel magazine. I am currently the Associate Director of SEO & Video. In my work at AFAR, I work with the C-suite and other leaders to set the SEO strategy, train editors on SEO best practices, and develop in-depth reports on audience interests to inform marketing, sales, and editorial teams on which topics will get us the most traffic and revenue. I also launched and now manage our YouTube channel, while working closely with sales to develop two new sellable options for advertisers with AFAR.

Before that, I was a content strategist at Facebook in 2019 for their media and publisher education team, where I built out an interactive educational platform for digital creators. From 2016-2019, I led the SEO and top of funnel content strategy for Asana as their search content strategist, launching their first-ever set of top-of-funnel landing pages to reach new markets.

Additionally, I have contributed as a freelancer to MuleSoft’s partner marketing team (2020-2022), to help them bring their in-person events online though webinars and remote events during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to joining AFAR, I also contributed regularly as a writer to Tortuga Backpacks (ecommerce) — including their most read article of all time, What to Pack in Thailand — Carryology (apparel and travel), FluentU (education), AFK Travel (travel), and 7x7 (local news, travel section).
